£20K at entry level but rising to £25K as experience increases.

role description

It requires entering data for import and export consignments (into a software programme which passes the information to His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs), double checking data accuracy and then liaising with customers to ensure their expectations are met.

entry requirements?

No previous sector experience or specific academic qualifications required – just good language and numeracy skills.

what sort of person?

The job requires a high level of accuracy and the ability to stick to agreed timescales. As such you’ll need to be someone who is able to concentrate, is naturally diligent about their responsibilities and organised in how they work.
It also helps to be someone with good communication skills for times when you need to liaise with customers

CUSTOMS CLEARANCE COORDINATOR / IMPORT-EXPORT EXECUTIVE

£26K – £36K depending on experience.

role description

This is the next step up from Import Clerk and involves judgement and decision making as to the accuracy of the delivery data.

entry requirements?

This is a more senior position, one in which transferable skills from other sectors are considered.
There are no specialist academic requirements – just good language and numeracy skills.

what sort of person?

You’ll need the same sort of skill set to the entry level Import Clerk position, including organisation, concentration and diligence.
As a step-up position, you’ll need to approach the role with an extra appetite for responsibility.
