RHA Benevolent Fund Sponsors Student At Northumbria University
Meet Harvey Beasley who hails from Driffield in East Yorkshire, and is in the first year of his BA (Hons) degree programme which includes International Operations Management, Applied Logistics and Global Logistics and Inventory Management.
Harvey’s Tutor is Marcelo Martins BA(Hons) who is Business and Supply Chain Management Programme Leader at the University.
Marcelo said ‘The support provided through the RHA Benevolent Fund is making a real and tangible difference to our students. Harvey’s experience is a great example of how targeted financial support can alleviate hardship, enable students to focus on their studies, and build confidence as they prepare for a career in logistics and supply chain management. We are extremely grateful for this partnership and the commitment shown to widening opportunity within the sector – Dr Marcelo Martins – BA (Hons) Business and Supply Chain Management Programme Leader)”.
The sponsorship was organised by Sue Vout who is the Trust and Foundation Manager at the University added ‘We are delighted to receive support from the RHA Benevolent Fund to support Harvey’s studies. We also look forward to welcoming Jim and colleagues on campus next academic year to give our students professional insights into the fast-moving logistics sector, preparing them for successful careers in the competitive global environment.’
Jim French MBE, RHA Benevolent Fund Chair said ‘The Logistics Sector has a severe skills shortage at all levels and the Benevolent Fund were very pleased to support Harvey in seeking a career in our Industry’.
In the third year of the programme Harvey will be available for placement with a Logistics Employer and it is hoped an RHA member will seek to use the skills he has learnt at University and gain practical experience of working in Road Transport.
Similarly when Harvey graduates at the end of his fourth year he will be available for full time employment in a Logistics business and again we are looking for opportunities within RHA members.
