Be at the centre of our IT services, learn how we use IT service management tools to support and improve the user experience and achieve a degree-level qualification.

What you’ll be doing

As an apprentice in Digital UX (User Experience) you’ll join our Digital Services directorate, delivering innovative solutions to help our users get the best from the IT systems and applications that we rely on at National Highways. Working with experienced specialists in our Service Operations team, you’ll learn all about our IT Service Management (ITSM) tool (ServiceNow) and get directly involved in its day-to-day administration and delivery. As part of a ServiceNow Centre of Excellence, you’ll also support the team to develop and improve the tool so that it continues to meet the needs of our users. As well as developing your skills and knowledge, you’ll also discover:

  • ITSM development and deployment best practice
  • How we work with a range of end users to capture and develop IT requirements and improvements
  • How we deliver innovative IT projects that will make a real difference to the user experience
  • On your learning programme, you’ll complete a degree in Digital User Experience (UX), which is fully funded at no cost to you.

What you’ll need to succeed

You’ll have:

  • The ability to work effectively with others in a team
  • The ability to work to timescales, understanding when and how to prioritise

  • The ability to write clearly and concisely
  • A desire and passion to grow your career at National Highways
  • You’ll also need to have these essential qualifications: At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / grade C or above including English and Maths Plus, one of the following: 120 UCAS points made up of A Levels or equivalent qualifications (e.g. BTEC, T Level) in related subjects (e.g. Maths, Science, IT) OR Completed a Level 3 apprenticeship in in a related field It is key to know all offers to onto our apprenticeships are subject to satisfactory completion of our pre-employment checks. This includes a Right to Work check, reference check and a DBS criminal record check.
