What you’ll be doing

Our Apprenticeship Programme starts in September 2024. As an apprentice IT Solutions Technician, you’ll join our Digital Services directorate to help deliver, monitor and maintain the operational technologies and systems that we rely on to keep our roads running safely and smoothly.

Working alongside experienced technical specialists, this is your chance to discover how we deliver the technology you see our on our motorways and major A roads such as signs, signals, CCTV cameras, emergency phones and detection equipment, plus the digital architecture that sits ‘behind the scenes’ in our control rooms.

As well as developing and applying your digital skills in a unique and exciting environment, you’ll learn about:

• The solutions design lifecycle
• Solutions architecture
• The role of IT solutions in business performance, continuity and resilience
• Cyber Security and risk management

On your learning programme, you’ll complete a Level 3 qualification, which is aligned with BCS the Chartered Institute for IT Register for IT Technicians (RITTech) and opens the door to many digital and IT career opportunities.

You’ll also need to have these essential qualifications:
• At least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 / grade C or above, including English and Maths

It is key to know all offers to onto our apprenticeships are subject to satisfactory completion of our pre-employment checks. This includes a Right to Work check, reference check and a DBS criminal record check.
