Customs Implementation Manager

Elizabeth Weldon – Kuehne+Nagel

Role: Customs Implementation Manager

Elizabeth started at Kuehne+Nagel straight out of University, taking up a Graduate Internship on the recommendation of a family member:

“I was always quite analytical and organised, with a keen interest in politics – which might not sound like something you associate with logistics, but actually proved incredibly useful for customs in navigating changes to the market brought about by Brexit.”

Elizabeth worked through a number of different roles at the company before settling into her current role as a Customs Implementations Manager.

“I’ve loved working for the business ever since I started. My current role involves implementing new customs brokerage contracts, liaising with customers, data gathering and ensuring smooth handovers into our operational teams.”

“I started my maternity leave at the end of March 2022 and was out of the business for a total of 9 months. I was initially nervous at taking so much time out. However, my management team have been incredibly supportive to ensure my smooth transition back into the business. It is definitely a struggle to find a new balance between working full time and caring for a little one at home, however I am really happy and proud to be reclaiming my working identity.”

Her career highlight was a successful Brexit Implementation Project, which helped the whole Keuhne+Nagel EU-UK adjust to a post-Brexit working model.

Stacey Nickless – Cold Chain Federation

Role: Buffaload Customer Service and Export Manager

There are roles for everyone in Logistics, including those with transferable skills from other sectors.
Stacey had previously worked in the property market for an estate agent, but came to Buffaload in 2019 to begin a new path as a Transport Administrator.

Progression has been key to Stacey’s success at Buffaload. Starting out at the Newark depot, Stacey then transferred to the key depot at Crewe where she worked her way up to the role of Senior Customer Service Administrator, with another promotion landing her the role of Customer Service and Export Manager.

The diversity of the role is what keeps it exciting. Of her current role, Stacey says “Every day is different, no day is ever the same. It keeps me on my toes. I enjoy the challenge when deadlines are tight and there are obstacles to overcome. I enjoy the working environment, we are all family here which makes for good collaboration and support.”

Looking to the future, Stacey has strong career goals within the industry.

“I enjoy mentoring my team and look forward to more progression, maybe into training roles. I’m excited by the future prospects for Buffaload and being a part of it.”

Buffaload Class 1 Driver

Karolina Gill – Cold Chain Federation

Role: Buffaload Class 1 Driver

Karolina proves that there is always an opportunity to learn and develop within the Logistics industry.

Starting out in the Operational teams at Buffaload, Ellington, as a Transport Administrator, she decided on an exciting new career path within the company.

“There are two reasons why I decided to qualify as a driver; first of all, I love driving and have always admired truck drivers, it’s not an easy job. Secondly, I have always believed that in life it is worth improving your qualifications. I like it when something changes in my life.”

Karolina worked hard and passed the required tests. From there, she was assisted in her journey by the Buffaload Driver Training Team, who, she says, “allowed me to train in the yard to be more confident on the road. We have really great trainers with good tips.”

Reflecting on her change in career, Karolina speaks highly of her teams, past and present:

“I like that I had the opportunity to start a new interesting job with the Buffaload team. I also like contact with people, and have good relations with colleagues from the office.”
