CASE STUDIES

Customer Service Lead Controller

Sasha Kinsey – Stobart

Role: Customer Service Lead Controller

Sasha started with Eddie Stobart when she was 17 years old.

“I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I was attending college 2 days a week but wanted to earn some money and gain some formal qualifications. I had no relevant experience and didn’t know much about transport!”

She began as an apprentice in customer service, helping people solve problems on the driverline team. But within nine months she’d progressed to order processing and customer enquiries within the same department.

“I’m now a lead controller in customer services, something I couldn’t foresee when I started my journey three years ago.”

Furthermore, Sasha is actively helping develop the next generation of talent, training and mentoring new interns through their placements.

“I’m hopeful my skills and experience will continue to grow, and I see myself as a team leader and manager of the future.

Management Graduate

Ryan Walters – Stobart

Role: Management Graduate

Ryan began his career within the supply chain industry 10 years ago. After five years, in order to open up more opportunities for development, he decided to apply to study Logistics and Supply Chain Management at university.

“What I learned in my four years at university has helped me bring theoretical knowledge from the classroom into the real world, to support the logistics of today.”

His position in the two year graduate team at Stobart challenges Ryan to explore all aspects of the company, from day-to-day order picking to supporting on larger projects. This offers a glimpse into, and an understanding of, multiple job roles within the company and will ultimately help him find his perfect role.

“Constantly moving into different departments has given me a better understanding of the company as a whole so when I move forward into a particular role, I will understand how the company works and how I directly contribute to the movement of goods around the UK.”

Ryan is excited by the opportunity to move up the ladder at Stobart. His favourite part of his job is being able to help different departments with his IT knowledge and Excel skills, getting satisfaction from the way his input allows processes to run more smoothly.
